Product Features and Benefits

Sporting a left sided sidebar and right sided blogging area, there is a nice contrast of colors between white, dark grey and lighter grey being used in the Co-pilot theme. Mcalister has made the time and date stamp very prominent in this theme, along with tags, where it’s posted and if anyone has commented. He has added a unique twist by placing beside each post an icon to point out if its multimedia or images post.

A nice use of search in the top right hand makes it very easy to navigate this site. Right beside that is a down arrow that when pressed it shifts up the posts (based on the wootheme tumblr theme)

Plus you get to choose between 6 different colors giving people lots of choice for how they want their site to look.

Functionality

A super fresh look, with lots and lots of potential. It is spouted as a blog/tumblog because there is an option at the top which lets people navigates through each posts without having to use their regular browser scroll bar.

It has the ability to allow you to post to it via your iphone which going to make it a hit with techy geeks who love wordpress theme that work with their iphone.

When it comes to the beloved shortcodes I was disappointed to not see a variety of what is becoming quite common in most themes now days.

Though I would say Mike has still done a good job of providing a lot of features and functionality to this theme that I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase it.

Compatibility and Code

I tested the theme in Internet explorer, Firefox, Opera and Chrome and thankfully this works in internet explorer without any issues.

When it comes to plugins, I was able to determine that it makes use of jquery for pre loading images and the slider but there is no mention of what plugins it uses or if it is reliant on any.

I checked the theme to see how valid the XHTML and CSS and it passed with no errors.

Performance Check

Quick to load in all browsers though it scored a 54/100 which is a super low.  Had it scored 100 it would have been classed as perfectly optimized. At the moment Google is very big on load speeds of websites so it was nice to see that they scored high.

3 Pros – Things that are great about the theme

  • Totally fresh and unique design
  • Loving the tumblr option
  • Posting to it via iphone

3 Cons – Things which aren’t too good

  • Lack of shortcodes
  • There are no views of what it looks like on the backend
  • Themeforest, can tend to have minimal support
