iProduct was designed mainly to display one product and to provide a platform that would allow you to cover all areas of that product, through screenshots, pricing and a featured tour. I actually really like how simple this theme is and could see companies who create apps using it to display their latest product.
Product Features and Benefits
iProduct key features are based on providing a simple layout where the focal point of the homepage is the featured product. Your eyes are naturally drawn to the screenshots of the app that might be presented front and center. Below this are two buttons which you can use to allow people to quickly view a demo version or go through to purchase it.
What I really liked was below the main attraction there is a three column table plan that you can use if your app or service offers different level plans. To the right off this is a place to put your best foot forward with a customer review. Below this is a button that makes sure that no one is wondering where your contact button is. It’s a rounded button that allows for pre-sales questions.
At the very top you have a smooth, well rounded navigation bar where you can situate links to important areas of your site such as blog, about, contact, pricing or a featured tour.
If you go through the link on the view demo it takes you to a post with a left sidebar.
When it comes to the various functionality features within the iproduct theme. Some of the areas that stand out are the drop down and breadcrumb navigation which lets you have up to a four level navigation and breadcrumbs that you can customize to provide a great overall experience to your user.
There is a built in ad monetization area which you can include in the blog sidebar through the place holders allowing you to set up your own ad selling business.
The theme is completely widget ready allowing you to add any type of widget to your sidebar.
For those who need to make changes to the appearance you will be happy with the custom control panel which is accessible through the administrator admin panel and gives you the ability to change the site without touching any code.
The theme supports all languages so it will appeal to multiple countries. If that was not enough, you are giving auto-resizing on all the thumbnails which means they are generated automatically after you upload an image.
Compatibility and Code
I tested the theme in Internet explorer, Safari, Firefox, Opera and Chrome and there were no issues with anything on the site, this includes appearance and functionality.
As it appears to only be a theme that is used for display purposes of apps, there is no major functionality that needs supporting of plugins so there are no plugins that it’s reliant on.
I checked the theme to see how valid the XHTML and CSS were and it has 2 errors and 1 warning.
iProduct loaded really fast in all browsers, and after a quick Google page speed tool test it showed a much clearer idea of why it loads fast, it scored 80/100 with a few references to areas they could improve on. Had it scored 100 it would have been classed as perfectly optimized. At the moment Google is very big on load speeds of websites so it was nice to see that they scored high.
3 Pros – Things that are great about the theme
- Being able to change the sites front end easily through the control panel
- A simple theme to use
- Positioning of all blocks are perfect for app selling
3 Cons – Things which aren’t too good
- Lack of colors
- Overall color is very dark, I think it would have been better with some lighter colors
- Lack of shortcodes.
