Overview

InFocus theme really pulls you in, with a very elegant and professional look which is both original and easy on the eyes.  The audience that this would most likely appeal to, would be interior designers, home blogs or a commercial site.

Product Features and Benefits

Some of the most noticeable features in this theme is its use of three gallery’s. There is a showcase; portfolio and video gallery and they are absolutely gorgeous looking. They make use of a light box for all three of them. Definitely this will appeal to photographers, designers and people who want to run a video site.

It offers a choice between ten different color styles; Black, Blue, Coffee, Deep Blue, Grey, Hot Pink, Lime, Red, Silver and golden. When you change to anyone of these colors it changes the upper, above fold background as well as all text.

If you’re looking to run pages only CMS then you will have a choice between; No intro, Twitter intro, Full Width, Site Map and custom 404 error pages.

If you want to use the twitter intro it will actually feed in your twitter posts into your blog, which is nice.

The blog portion of the theme has a beautiful social media icon line up that appears just above the comments and really adds a professional touch to your blog while giving you a way to share your posts with the social world.

Functionality

The theme is very easy to navigate and extremely professional looking. I can’t get over how nice this theme looks.

One of the style you can choose from Is “ Easy column layouts, “ this lets you set up any page with multiple text columns in various styles.

When it comes to the beloved shortcodes there are thirty four to choose from, some of which are;

  • Button Links – Display a clickable button
  • List styles – Check Lists
  • Box Styles
  • Dropcaps
  • Pullquotes – display quotes off to the side
  • JQuery Toggle Content – Drop down content
  • Highlighting
  • Image Frames
  • Dividers
  • Francy Header and box style
  • Easy Contact form
  • Easy Column shortcodes

Compatibility and Code

I tested the theme in Internet explorer, Firefox, Opera and Chrome and found that there were no conflicts with this theme and it appeared and functioned nicely in all of them.

When it comes to plugins, I was able to determine that it makes use of jquery for pre loading images and the slider but there is no mention of what plugins it uses or if it is reliant on any.

I checked the theme to see how valid the XHTML and CSS and there was one error and one warning on line 4, column 11629 with the character & and Line 4, column 80.

Performance Check

I found the theme loaded very fast in all browsers. A quick run of the theme through Google page speed tool showed a score of 80/100 which is very good compared to other themes out there.  Had it scored 100 it would have been classed as perfectly optimized. At the moment Google is very big on load speeds of websites so it was nice to see that they scored high.

3 Pros – Things that are great about the theme

  • The professional, unique design
  • The three gallery options
  • The social media integration

3 Cons – Things which aren’t too good

  • There isn’t a minimal style color that is just white
  • No backend views
  • You have to purchase through Themeforest which means putting in more cash than the actual theme itself as theme forest requires a set amount.
