Product Features and Benefits
Front and center in this theme is the 5 piece slider which doesn’t appear to be set to automatically slide in the demo version but I do believe that this is an option inside the area. I actually prefer it without sliding immediately. Each slide has an area for a title and description which is helpful for pointing out details about the post before its clicked.
For pages you have various templates you can choose from for Archives, contact form, full width, image gallery and site map.
It offers a variety of main features such as:
- General Settings
- Styling Options
- Portfolio page template
- Dynamic images
- Homepage slider
- Footer Customization
- Homepage layout
Below the main slider you have a horizontal 3 column area for listing your portfolio work aswell as latest posts
There is also an area for showing future customers what your previous clients have had to say about your work. It is a rotating testimonial box.
Easy to navigate this site, I don’t think anyone would have issues finding their way around, its built on woo themes frame work which follows pretty much the same pattern for all of their themes. You navigation is at the top with a drop down for child categories. In the footer you have a place for different widgets such as a about, archives, categories and social buttons.
When it comes to shortcodes woo really has gone all out and provides up to eleven different codes, so not as many as elegant themes sixteen but still covers most of the main things you need like:
- Small buttons
- Big buttons
- Custom buttons
- Icon buttons
- Info boxes
- Social Buttons
- Horizontal Rule
- Icon Link
Compatibility and Code
Now while it says it is compatible with 4 browsers, I noticed that in internet explorer there did appear to be a slight issue with 2 of the slides now I don’t know if this is related to the slide or the fact that the images had a drop down shadow. It would need to be tested more fully.
When it comes to plugins, woo themes don’t require plugins but they do recommend a few that they feel would work well with any one of their themes. Those plugins are free and are called; Scribe SE, Gravity Forms, WPML and Codestyling Localization
I checked the theme to see how valid the XHTML and CSS were and it came back with 6 errors and 6 warnings.
It really loaded fast which is why it was strange to find that it only scored 52/100 with seven references with quite a lot of things that would need to be fixed to sort it out. Had it scored 100 it would have been classed as perfectly optimized. At the moment Google is very big on load speeds of websites so it was nice to see that they scored high.
3 Pros – Things that are great about the theme
- Beautifully created
- Plenty of features to allow for growth of site
- Easy navigation and administrative options
3 Cons – Things which aren’t too good
- Not the most unique theme I have seen
- You don’t get the PSDS in the standard theme
- No option for a left sidebar
